We are at an exciting UBI moment in Greater Manchester! The interest and momentum is growing across a wide range of people, groups and interests. Our Mayor Andy Burnham is really behind the idea, and wants Greater Manchester to carry out the first UBI pilot in England (Wales, Ireland and Scotland are miles ahead of us I'm afraid - we need to catch up!)

Please join us at an online (hopefully monthly) meeting of UBI Lab Manchester on Wednesday 2 November 7.00 - 8.00 pm

This is following on from a very successful in person meeting we held on 27 September at Home, Manchester City Centre, where we decided that the focus of the Manchester Lab could be on:

  • Getting together like-minded people to discuss UBI, inspire and support each other

  • Welcoming newcomers and sharing progress with members

  • Growing the lab - asking for volunteers to take on social media roles, website, blog etc

  • Look for funding to develop the work we're doing

  • Grass roots action - setting up stalls in Manchester City Centre (and other places); using the Basic Income Conversation toolkit and developing our skill in talking about UBI to other people

  • Encouraging political engagement - emailing our councillors and MPs

  • Getting a pilot up and running in the Greater Manchester area

We are at the moment a small group of volunteers, and so really need your help and commitment in getting all this up and running, especially our trial using Trello!

Please do come along to the meeting on the 2 November with your ideas and enthusiasm!
